Practical answers about privacy, formats and what gets removed.
What tags are removed from audio files?
MP3 files are stripped of ID3v2, ID3v1 and APE tags. WAV files lose LIST and INFO chunks, FLAC files lose Vorbis comments and embedded pictures, and M4A files lose iTunes-style atoms.
Will my music still play after removal?
Yes. Tags are stored separately from audio data. Removing them keeps the audio frames intact, so files play normally in every player.
Are embedded album covers removed?
Yes. Album art stored as APIC frames, FLAC pictures or M4A cover atoms is removed together with other metadata.
Which audio formats are supported?
MP3, WAV, FLAC and M4A are processed directly in the browser. OGG, Opus, AAC and WMA use a WebAssembly stream-copy engine.
Does this work for audiobooks and podcasts?
Yes. Chapter metadata may remain in some containers, but titles, authors, dates and comments are stripped for audiobooks and podcasts too.
Is audio quality affected?
No. Metadata removal copies the audio stream without re-encoding, so the sound quality and bitrate stay exactly the same.
