What metadata is stored in videos?
MP4, MOV and M4V files can store titles, descriptions, creation dates, encoder software, GPS and iTunes-style tags in the moov box. WebM, MKV and AVI can hold similar tag data.
Is the video re-encoded during removal?
No. The tool removes metadata boxes and remuxes the streams with copy mode, so video and audio tracks are not re-encoded and quality is unchanged.
Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV and M4V are processed instantly with a box-level remuxer. WebM, MKV, AVI and WMV use a browser WebAssembly stream-copy engine.
Why does processing take longer for some formats?
WebM, MKV, AVI and WMV are handled by a WebAssembly engine that is downloaded once per browser session. Larger files naturally take longer to remux.
Will subtitles and multiple audio tracks be kept?
Yes. All streams are mapped through, so subtitles, chapters and multiple audio tracks remain intact. Only metadata tags are removed.
Does removing video metadata affect file size?
The file size stays nearly the same because only small metadata boxes are removed and the media streams are copied without re-encoding.
